H20+
Excluse modchip sold only at (http://www.modchip.ca/) (http://subzero-chip.com/)
Features:
Uses a port of the old H2O modchip code on a more powerful hardware. This transition happened in a hurry due to a shortage of the old Ubicom SX28AC parts, but nevertheless it was bound to happen. Not only has the reliability of the modchip significantly increased with the new hardware, but now it will be possible to add new features like DVD-region FREE and later in new products also CD/USB flash upgrades ;-)
FEATURES:
* Autoboot on all consoles v1-v17, just insert any PS2/PS1 disc / DVDvideo and press RESET! No procedures!
* DEV1 mode on all v1-v17 consoles. The code runs "mc0:/boot/boot.elf" whed DEV mode is executed (now with a simple doubleclick of the reset button)!
* Quality PCB design with laser-etched solder mask and automated components assembly!
* UUses latest code developed by the members of the legendary ICE TEAM!
* Direct boot of any PS2 CDR/DVDR, even multi-elf and Dual Layer DVDR (DVD9) backups!
* PS1 import fix - PS1 games display at full screen!
* PlayStation2 logo displays perfectly, even custom HomeBrew disc logos display as well!
* Macro-OFF + green-fix for DVDvideo!
* 18 wires for v1-v8; 19 wires for v9-v17 consoles; 1 additional wire for JAP consoles.
* DVD-RW support if F wire is applied
* Simple and flexible usage of the chips' modes of operation.
FIRMWARE VERSIONS:
H2O+ v3
* Revised patch and patching system
* V14+ region autodetect - no more jumper needed
* Fully compatible with v4-v18 EUR/USA/JAP consoles
* Autoboot without the ps2 resetting itself
* Boot mode select fix - no more accidental devmode if you press reset too slowly
* Chip test removed.
* 100% bootrate on v4-v18 consoles, new patching system is incompatible with v1-v3 versions (lots of black screens on boot - will fix in h2o+ v4)
Known bugs:
* On v1-v8 consoles the chip may get stuck in disable mode (because the 3v point in v1-v8 does not go low in strandby). This is easily solved by using the 5v point of the old h2o instead of the 3v point. No diodes needed ;-)
* New patching system is incompatible with v1-v3 versions (lots of black screens on boot - will fix in h2o+ v4)
H2O+ v2
* Revised code and PCB.
* All bugs fixed, fully compatible with v1-v17 EUR/USA/JAP consoles.
* Chip test added: 0.5sec after you turn the PS2 on - the reset LED must blink once. This means you have a working chip.
* 100% bootrate on all PS2 versions.
Known bugs:
* On v1-v8 consoles the chip may get stuck in disable mode (because the 3v point in v1-v8 does not go low in strandby). This is easily solved by using the 5v point of the old h2o instead of the 3v point. No diodes needed ;-)
* When the reset button is too slow to release after a press - it counts as a doubleclick and the chip boots to devmode.
H2O+ v1
* Clean port to the new microcontroller
* 100% bootrate on all PS2 versions.
* Added simple and flexible mode switching
* Full low power sleep mode (no danger of overheating)
Known bugs:
* Since the chip now runs at 3v which which takes longer to go high from 0V (from standby), the chip will experience exactly 1 unsuccesfull boot - the first after the PS2 is turned on from standby. We are already writing a new 3v compatible code for the H2O+ v2 (next code revision, due soon).
* FIX: The bug can be avoided by taking the +3v3 from 5v thru 2 1N4148 diodes:
* 5V(PS2)---(>|)------(>|)---+3v3(modchip)
* That way the chip will have true 100% bootrate even with this bug :-)
Old H2O
* ICE FINAL CODE with added v14-v17 support
Usage Instructions:
H2O+ Dynamic modes
* MEDIA: Insert PS1/PS2/DVD disc and press RESET
* DEV1: Tap RESET 2x
* CHIP-OFF: Tap RESET 4x
* FORCE PS1/DVDvideo MODE: Tap RESET 3x
* EACH MODE ACTIVE UNTIL RESET!
H2O+ Persistent modes (Old H2O compatible)
* MEDIA: Insert PS1/PS2/DVD disc and press RESET
* CHIP-OFF: Hold RESET till picture on TV appears
* DEV1: Do procedure for CHIP-OFF + tap 1x RESET
* FORCE PS1/DVDvideo MODE: Hold RESET 1.5sec
* EACH MODE ACTIVE UNTIL STANDBY!
